The Chicago Bears have a lot to sort out on their roster before the 2016 season begins. Here is a ranking system that should paint a clear picture for every name.
Put in simpler terms there are those who are 100% going to make and it trickles down to those who are getting a few nice paychecks for a summer job trying to help the big boys get ready for the heavy action in September. This list should help fans separate the 90 names into something more manageable and easier to understand.
Locks:
- Jay Cutler
- Jeremy Langford
- Alshon Jeffery
- Kevin White
- Kyle Long
- Cody Whitehair
- Bobby Massie
- Eddie Goldman
- Akiem Hicks
- Pernell McPhee
- Danny Trevathan
- Jerrell Freeman
- Leonard Floyd
- Adrian Amos
- Kyle Fuller
This category is self-describing. Players who are locks constitute the core of the Bears roster. These are the names that have no chance of going anywhere in 2016. Cutler is the unquestioned quarterback. Langford is the projected starter at running back, as are White and Jeffery at wide receiver. Long is a three-time Pro Bowlers in his prime, so that’s obvious while Whithair is their 2nd round pick.
Massie was just signed to a new contract and was declared a starter right away, as were Hicks, Trevathan and Freeman. McPhee was their most dangerous pass rusher last season and Floyd is the 1st round pick. As for Fuller and Amos, they came across as the most able secondary players on defense despite the limited production.
