One must follow the line of events to understand why Jeremy Maclin is a top receiver. First and foremost is the production. He’s now had two-straight years of at least 1,000 yards and scored 18 touchdowns. More than that though is what happened to the two teams he played for. Philadelphia went 10-6 in 2014 with him on the field. When he left they fell to 7-9. Kansas City was 9-7 in 2014 and missed the playoffs.
This past year they were 11-5 and won their first playoff game since 1994. That is a tangible impact that Maclin had, giving them an outside presence at receiver they didn’t have. To think he did it with guys like Mark Sanchez and Alex Smith throwing him the ball makes it all the more impressive.
