Baltimore Ravens (10-6)

Biggest Strength:  Defensive Line

The linebackers get all the love in a 3-4 defense but they are only as good as the defensive line is in front of them.  Baltimore has a solid, even underrated group with Timmy Jernigan at end and Brandon Williams plugging the middle at nose tackle.  Throw in a couple of classic quality Ozzie Newsome mid round draft choices that will yield big results in Willie Henry and Bronson Kaufusi and that front should be able to control the line of scrimmage, allowing the edge rushers to excel.

Biggest Weakness:  Wide Receiver

There are quite a few gambles the Ravens are making in regards to their receiving corps.  They are banking that veteran Steve Smith will be the same player he’s been for ages after an Achilles injury, banking that their 1st round pick from last year Breshad Perriman doesn’t continue to have knee problems and banking that free agent Mike Wallace recaptures some of the magic he had during his days in Pittsburgh.  Such long chances rarely work out completely.

Final Record Reason

John Harbaugh is one of the better coaches in the NFL.  His teams are always in the playoff mix year after year because he understands how to get the most from the players he has.  Newsome has bolstered the roster this year and hopefully injuries won’t play such a central part as in 2015.  Given their track record, odds say they win enough games to be in the hunt.
