Arian Foster Still Unsigned; Where Will He Land?

With over 6,000 career rushing yards, Arian Foster was once one of the best running backs in the NFL. Hampered by countless injuries, the former Texan has only started all 16 games once in his career and has only appeared in 25 games over his last three seasons.

Cut by the only team he ever donned a uniform for earlier in the year, Foster is still looking for work. He has made visits to NFL teams, most recently the Miami Dolphins, but is still without a contract.

Even after the NFL Draft teams will be looking for a low-risk/high-reward veteran who could get a steady amount of carries and help work with the rookies in camp.

Here were some of the suggestions the NFL Mocks staff game to where Arian Foster could eventually sign.

Rodney: I could see Foster landing someplace like the Bears or the Colts. Neither team has an established running back and they could get one, maybe two years out of him if his injuries hold up

Jeffrey: I could see Washington taking a chance on him. they lost morris in the offseason and they could use some more depth and experience at running back.

I for one don’t see the Bears or Colts going towards Foster, especially the Colts. They already tried their hand at an older running back (Frank Gore) and were unsuccessful.

The Redskins do make some sense. Their current starter Matt Jones played in 13 games last year and averaged less than 40 yards per game. He did show flashes of potential though, which gives him the upper hand heading into camp. The team also drafted Keith Marshall out of Georgia a couple of weeks ago. Foster could make some starts for Washington and help Jones and Marshall develop into starting NFL running backs

I would keep my eyes on the Detroit Lions. Ameer Abdullah struggled in his rookie year despite posting nearly 600 rushing yards. The Lions only other legitimate options are Theo Riddick, sophomore Zach Zenner, veteran Stevan Ridley, and rookie Dwayne Washington. Foster would not only be a veteran voice among a relatively young group, but provide Matt Stafford some help balancing out the offense with no Calvin Johnson to throw to.
