Clemson Tigers. D.J. READER. B-.
The Texans have to acknowledge that they may soon be without starting nose tackle Vince Wilfork, who will be 35 by the end of the 2016 season. With a daunting hole potentially opening on Houston’s defensive line in the near future, NT should have been a priority in the draft.

The Texans waited until the fifth round, and their last selection, to take a defensive tackle. At 6’3, 325lbs, D.J. Reader looks the part of an NFL nose tackle. His size and blocking skills make him an intriguing prospect, though he has yet to have production to back up his physical potential. He has 17 career tackles and four sacks over four seasons at Clemson.

Reader is a largely developmental prospect, and will have the benefit of learning behind one of the best nose tackles in the league. He fits a position where Houston has significant, but will need to improve his play to become a viable starter.
.
