The NFL Draft ended just a couple of days ago, but we’re already moving on to the 2017 NFL Draft.
While a lot will change over the next 360 days, but the NFL Mocks staff examined some of the prospects we could be taking a look at next springs.
Rodney: D’onta Freeman. He’ll be in a time share with Chris Warren but he’s a 6′ 240lb running back that supposedly ran a 4.4 (I’m comfortable with sub 4.6) but he’s going to be a beast
Erik: Myles Garrett
David: Dalvin Cook. Somehow he has flown under the radar at FSU despite averaging over 7.4 YPC and scoring 19 TD’s last season. Also a big fan of Royce Freeman out of Oregon. Could make the argument he’s the best RB in the Pac-12.
Brady: I think Juju Smith-Schuster is going to be a good player. He’s absolutely dominated at USC and should be an exciting prospect at the next level.
Shawn: Corey Davis. Doesn’t get a lot of recognition because he plays for Western Michigan, but he’s going to be an early pick next year.
Eric: It’s not a single player, instead it’s an entire class: Running back. A class that could have Fournette, Cook, Jalen Hurd, Samaje Perine, Wayne Gallman, Elijah Hood, Royce Freeman, Nick Chubb……RB is making a comeback.
I countered Eric’s list with the addition of Christian McCaffrey, Corey Clement, Shock Lindwood, Donnel Phumprey and James Connor
Eric: You very well can throw both (McCaffrey and Connor)in there. I hope Connor bounces back. Old school, 25 carry a game back. May have to trim a little weight but he’s a solid back. Clement is another one. I applauded his move to go back to school. He wasn’t ready. He will rise for sure.
This discussion clearly highlights the gluttony of running backs coming out next year. There’s at least two potential Heisman Trophy candidates on here and we could potentially see three running backs go in the first round next year.
