The Chicago Bears went 6-10 last season.  They knew there would be no hope of improving that without a good 2016 draft.  So how did they do?

GM Ryan Pace and head coach John Fox enter their second year together in charge of the franchise.  Now should be the time where their personal stamps should begin to be felt on the roster.  Unwanted players and staff are long gone.  Everybody in the organization is informed of what the blueprint is.  The goal from there is executing it.  Pace believed going into the draft he’d assembled a capable group of scouts and coaches that could knock this draft out of the park.

All they had to do was craft a good board and then stick to it.  By all accounts that is exactly what they did, not without a few twists and turns along the way of course.  Here is a pick-by-pick examination of the entire draft, with grades and commentary for each one.  They are as follows:

  • Leonard Floyd, OLB, Georgia
  • Cody Whitehair, OG, Kansas State
  • Jonathan Bullard, DT, Florida
  • Nick Kwiatkoski, ILB, West Virginia
  • Deon Bush, S, Miami Fl.
  • Deiondre Hall, CB, Northern Iowa
  • Jordan Howard, RB, Indiana
  • DeAndre Houston-Carson, S, William & Mary
  • Daniel Braverman, WR, Western Michigan
