The Philadelphia Eagles went through a rough stretch at quarterback the past few year. Now they’ve put themselves in position to get a good one.
There is no doubt what the intention was of Eagles GM Howie Roseman when he packaged several draft picks in order to move up from the 8th pick to #2 in a deal with Cleveland. Having watched uninspired quarterback play for years since the end of the Donovan McNabb era, he was intent on reinforcing that position with the best player possible. The name he settled on was Carson Wentz out of North Dakota State.
The #Eagles pick is in. It's #NDSU QB Carson Wentz No. 2 overall.

Here is a breakdown of the player Philly will be seeing in their future under center, courtesy of the Mocks scouting network.
"“He displays great arm strength, an ability to command the pocket, and enough athleticism to become elusive in the running game if need be. His ball placement and the tight throws he consistently makes are also a plus. The ball placement especially has been a great improvement over his college career. You can’t forget his size either. He has the prototypical quarterback “look” with his height and weight. He also has long legs and sets a wide, balanced base for his throws. Wentz is also a smart quarterback who reads through his progressions and is patient enough to not make too many bad decisions. That will greatly help in his transition to the next level.”"
Rumors persist that the Eagles wanted Jared Goff, probably for the same reasons the Rams did. He’s ready to play immediately and more experienced against top competition. However, it’s fair to argue that Wentz has the higher upside from a physical standpoint. Assuming they hang on to Sam Bradford, he will be allowed to learn from the sideline and absorb the more complex pro offenses. If things progress as they should, he may end up having the better career.
