Cre’von Leblanc was a name that began to surface early on in the draft process. He’s an aggressive corner who does well mirroring opponents and stifling them off the line. While not as well known, LeBlanc is one of the more technically sound corner backs in this draft. He impressed scouts at the senior bowl and showed abilities to be a strong slot corner in this league.

Position: CB

Strengths

LeBlanc is a physical corner who may see value similar to Buster Skrine of the New York Jets. His physical playing style and his knack for defending the ball in the air are traits that many general managers and scouts will be looking for when selecting a top tier slot corner. LeBlanc isn’t the most athletically gifted corner back but he has the quick feet and instincts of a corner that will work his way into the starting lineup. He impressed at the senior bowl where he mirrored some of the best wide receivers at the event and showed that he has the ability to be a strong possession in the future.

Weaknesses

Let’s start with his size. At 5’9 and about 194 pounds, LeBlanc possesses the weight but not exactly the height to be an outside corner. If you’re drafting him it’s more than likely for the slot position. His times weren’t very impressive at any event for his position and he has shown in-game that his recovery speed isn’t up to par with other corners in this draft. LeBlanc has a lot to learn coming from the lower ranks of the FBS division but that’s not to rule him out of any competitive position on an NFL team.

Outlook

Cre’von Leblanc has all the tools to make it as an NFL starter. He doesn’t possess ideal size but at 5’9 he’s not too much shorter than some of the other top corners coming into the draft (Hargreaves 5’10, Alexander 5’10) who have been projected to go in the first round. For LeBlanc, it’s going to depend on the scheme he’s drafted into and the coaches around him that will determine how great he can be at the next level.
