7. San Francisco 49ers

DE. Oregon. DeForest Buckner . 7. player. 42. The quarterback buzz may be ongoing, but it’s looking like the San Francisco 49ers are content to hang on to Colin Kaepernick while shifting their focus towards rebuilding their once great defense. By far the best player left on the board is DeForest Buckner. He’s a great fit for their 3-4 scheme and the fact he comes from Oregon comes with just a hint of irony.

In joining former teammate Arik Armstead along that front, the team is getting a big, powerful defensive end who knows how to set the edge and stop the run. What sets him apart from others is the latent explosiveness he flashes. Combined with his impressive length and athleticism, there is no doubt Buckner has the capacity to become a force as a pass rusher. No doubt he and Armstead can become quite the 1-2 punch for the 49ers to build around moving forward.
