2. Philadelphia Eagles (via CLE)

54. One does not give up the amount of draft currency the Philadelphia Eagles just did and not take a quarterback. It’s clear they’re not enamored with Sam Bradford as the future starter and re-signed him expressly for the purposes of not having to play a rookie right away in 2016. Savvy in a business sense but also a bit cold-hearted too. Such is the reality of NFL football.

Carson Wentz has all the tools of a franchise quarterback: size, toughness, arm strength, accuracy and leadership. He was a winner during his two years as a starter and has an understanding of pro offenses and how to run them. To top it off, he’s quite mobile as a runner, able to make things happen with his legs. It’s just a matter of getting him used to the speed of the pro level, something that can’t happen in the FCS playing teams like Illinois State and Northern Iowa. A year on the bench getting ready is exactly what he needs.
.
