19. Buffalo Bills

16. Rex Ryan is never shy about being bold but he’s also a pragmatist when he must be. The Buffalo Bills may be looking at a quarterback but chances are they will find much safer options amidst the rich defensive line class. That defense has need of an overhaul up front, both in terms of age and scheme considerations. Ryan likes them big, mean, tough and efficient.

Jarran Reed checks every one of those boxes. He won’t be heralded for his ability as a pass rusher, but the Alabama alum is the prototypical nose tackle a 3-4 defense looks for. His size and power are evident on every snap as blockers struggle to move him. Though he’s not fast he has enough quickness to get up and down the line of scrimmage, extending his range as a run stuffer to beyond just the middle. Having somebody like him will help the Bills create more long down situations, allowing Ryan to craft his blitzes.
.
