17. Atlanta Falcons

44. It will be tempting to get Matt Ryan another target for his passing attack but Dan Quinn is a defensive coach. It’s only logical he’d like to run his team based on that approach. Besides there is still plenty of work to do on the Atlanta Falcons defense. Among the issues is continuing to improve their pass rush which has yet to turn the corner.

Vic Beasley was a step in the right direction but he’s only one man. They need somebody to team with him, somebody who can create some havoc along the interior and pull blockers away from the edge. Sheldon Rankins is among the best. He’s stocky at just 6’1″ but boasts good power in his lower body, giving him a natural leverage against blockers. Throw in the burst and quickness requires to shoot gaps and he is the kind of force offenses won’t be able to ignore. With him coming up the middle, Beasley won’t see many double teams.
.
