Moritz Boehringer is a name that isn’t well known in the football world, but it could be come this fall. Boehringer has a chance to do what no man has done before, be the first European to be drafted straight to the NFL.

A member of the Swäbisch Hall Unicorns, Boehringer came to Florida Atlantic’s stadium in Boca Raton to host his own pro day, and he did not disappoint. He posted numbers that would have been near the top of this receiving class. He posted a broad jump that would have been good for second in his class, he had a cone drill time that was on par with freak athlete (Braxton Miller’s) and had a vertical jump good for fourth in the class.

While he has flown very low under the radar considering his international status with very limited game tape and background. He has only been playing football for the past four years, but is good enough to be able to take his talents to the NFL. This season, his only with Swäbisch, he posted ridiculous numbers. He caught 70 passes, for 1,461 yards, and 16 touchdowns for the Unicorns.

  • Measurables:

    Height 6’4″

    Weight 227 lbs.

    Personal Pro Day Results:

    40-yd Dash 4.42 seconds

    3-cone Drill 6.65 seconds

    20-yd Shuttle 4.10 seconds

    Vertical Jump 39″

    Broad Jump 131″

    Bench Press Reps 17

    Strengths:

Boehringer is a freak athlete. He posted workout results that were better than nearly all of this year’s receiving class. He has the right combination of size and speed to be a successful wide receiver in the NFL. He has great hands and makes long strides on routes, covering a lot of ground real quick.

Good tracking ability on deep and intermediate routes. Great acceleration after the catch, can create space between him and defenders. Great running abilities after the catch, able to weave in and out of traffic, and make defenders miss.

    Weaknesses:

Very inexperienced, he has only been playing football for four years, and only spent one year at a semi-professional level. The transition to the NFL will be a hard one considering he has never faced an NFL caliber cornerback.

Will face a massive learning curve with timing and a new philosophy of the game. Not the best at getting off the line of scrimmage, will struggle against press coverages initially. Will have to learn to create space against better and more athletic corners, was open a lot in German competition based on speed alone.

    Overview:

It’s hard to project Boehringer, he is an unknown prospect to those not immersed in the football world. He will face a massive learning curve once he gets signed or drafted by an NFL team. He is a project player with an undeniable athletic upside.

He is worth a pick later on in the draft based off of his potential to pick up the game and run with it, and produce like he did for Schwäbisch. It wouldn’t be shocking to see him go undrafted, but he will undoubtedly get signed as a UDFA and get a tryout shot with someone.
