Marquez North, WR, Tennessee: 2016 NFL Draft Scouting Report
By Sam Weaver
Marquez North has the size and build to be a first tier wide receiver. He is quick, agile, and flashes immense talent.
His predisposition for injuries has prevented North from truly becoming a part of the Tennessee offense after a promising freshman contribution (38 receptions for 496 yards and a touchdown).
Entering college, North was viewed as a legitimate threat. He had few chances to showcase his talents, missing a significant amount of time during his final season at Tennessee, when he totaled only six receptions for 58 yards.

2015 Season Stats: six receptions, 58 yards
Strengths:
North has the size and speed to be an NFL receiver. He has great hands and excellent ball awareness. North has flashed the skills and separation abilities to be an intriguing prospect. He has the height to get up over defenders.
His size allows him to be a decent blocker, but he could improve his consistency in this area. North is overall a very impressive, though raw, physical talent.
Weaknesses:
Injury-prone players are risky, and North was so often sidelined that he never really had a chance to display his abilities. Lack of versatility as a route-runner and limited on-field experience keep North from being a pro-ready receiver.
Limited contribution during his junior season at Tennessee will raise questions about his ability to produce for an offense.
Projection:
North’s draft potential will come down to a team’s desire to acquire a project. He has the build to be an elite receiver, but will need to stay healthy and improve his consistency as a receiver to be a legitimate option as a starter.
His raw physical talent will catch the eye of NFL teams. North has participated in private workouts with several teams in the weeks leading up to the draft. In the later rounds, his potential upside may outweigh his consistent injuries.
