THE TRENCHES

The fundamental element to success in the NFL starts at the line of scrimmage.  Teams with strong offensive and defensive lines always have an easier time on Sundays when it comes to winning.  So the Bears decide to follow that philosophy here, operating with the intent of controlling the game up front.

Notre Dame. Ronnie Stanley . 11. player. 57. Questions of work ethic and strength do just enough to drop this legit left tackle prospect right into the Bears’ laps, giving them an immediate upgrade over Charles Leno.. OT

41. player. 57. Ascending defensive end prospect with size and strength to set the edge but enough quickness to generate consistent pressure on the quarterback.. DE. Mississippi State. Chris Jones

OLB. Boise State. Kamalei Correa . 72. player. 57. Explosive and athletic pass rusher who still needs time to fill out his frame and clean up his mechanics.  Situational player who should become a starter within a year or two.

57. Length and fluid agility to hang with receivers in coverage.  Will have to prove he can be more physical in order to become a complete player.. CB. Virginia. Maurice Canady . 106. player

K.J. Dillon . 127. player. 57. Combination safety who can play free and strong positions.  Better in coverage at present.  Has to improve his tackling ability but not that far off.. S. West Virginia

Tyler Ervin . 150. player. 57. Already a freaky fast back who offers third down possibilties as a weapon.  If he can add more muscle, there is hidden starter potential.. RB. San Jose State

Georgia. Malcolm Mitchell . 185. player. 57. Masked by injuries and a run-first offense, he flashed enough to show he has the speed if he can get free and is quite reliable even when covered.. WR

Temarrick Hemingway . 206. player. 57. En vogue tight end with mix of height and speed, basketball style.  Can become a passing game weapon if a team is patient enough.. TE. South Carolina State

Pure 3-4 nose tackle.  Not a pass rusher in any sense but a giant body with power who can clog up the middle and stop the run.. DT. Clemson. D.J. Reader . 230. player. 57
