DEFENSE FIRST

The most widely accepted possibility in regards to how the draft will go for Chicago is that they will put their entire focus on the defense, at least in the early rounds.  So this mock follows through on such an idea, with every key position with a need is addressed on that side of the ball, hopefully bringing the rebuild to its conclusion.

Edge man who wins with power but also features a creative array of pass rush moves and above-average athleticism.  Almost the same type of player as Pernell McPhee.. OLB. Clemson. Shaq Lawson . 11. player. 57

57. Rare safety that isn’t lacking in any area.  Can play coverage or near the line of scrimmage with equal success.  Concerns lay with his size and durability.. S. West Virginia. Karl Joseph . 41. player

DE. Ohio State. Adolphus Washington . 72. player. 57. Getting more push and rush from the defensive line is a big key for Chicago.  Washington can fill that role with his quickness and explosion.

Arizona. Scooby Wright III . 106. player. 57. Not the most glamorous athlete, but a linebacker who just finds the football.  Elite instincts that help overcome his physical limitations.. ILB

Jerell Adams . 127. player. 57. Lacking bulk and inconsistent hands will drop him, but his upside as a two-way tight end with size and speed can’t be ignored.. TE. South Carolina

150. player. 57. Polished quarterback prospects with size, mobility and experience.  Hailed as a leader for a top program with lots of success.  At least a quality backup who could become a starter.. QB. Stanford. Kevin Hogan

Joe Dahl . 185. player. 57. Undaunted guard who plays with zeal and intelligence.  All sorts of tough with enough strength to make a long career at guard.. OG . Washington State

206. player. 57. Sticky cover corner with good size.  Doesn’t have the best speed and gets caught for penalties too often, but plenty of room to get better.. CB. N.C. State. Juston Burris

57. Classic long corner who can match up in press with receivers and has good ball skills but is a liability against speed.. CB. West Virginia. Daryl Worley . 230. player
