Isaac Seumalo is one of the biggest under-the-radar guys that nobody is talking about. Part of this may be due to his position, as centers don’t necessarily garner the attention of tackles, and the school in which he played with Oregon State not sending many draftable prospects to the NFL this year. Despite this, does Seumalo possess traits that could be appealing to some franchises?

Height: 6’4″
Weight: 303 lbs
Class: Junior
Strengths
Isaac Seumalo is a technically sound and coordinated blocker, with loose hips and ability to sink down and anchor. Seumalo has good feet and demonstrates strong lateral movement. Is a tough and tenacious blocker with a finishing mean streak that doesn’t see him quit until the defender is on the ground. Very versatile with starting experience at both tackle spots, right guard, and center. Good football character and hard worker. Will be a solid contributor in the locker room.
Weaknesses
Isaac Seumalo lacks the prototypical bulk and frame of an NFL center. Doesn’t possess desired length nor the wide base that appeals to scouts. Relies too much on technique, if he has a misstep doesn’t have the strength needed to recover. Seumalo has a fairly lengthy injury history including two surgeries on a broken foot that took 20 months to heal, a bruised left knee caused him to miss time in 2013, and a hip injury that seemed to plague him throughout his freshman season.
Final Thoughts
Seumalo is a true technician with the intelligence, toughness, and fundamentals to be an eventual starter. His ability to get low and anchor combined with his flexibility helps him overshadow some of his physical limitations. While still versatile, his best position will be inside at center. If his Medicals check out, Seumalo has starter potential without a lot of needed coaching.
