Little by little Denver Broncos fans are getting the unfortunate feeling that the Colin Kaepernick trade route, which seemed so promising a few weeks ago has all but disappeared. The 28-year old has refused to take a pay cut to make any deal possible and chances are strong he will remain with the San Francisco 49ers. This puts pressure on the Broncos front office, who at present have only acquired Mark Sanchez as their best option at quarterback.
Hardly what one would call satisfactory since the man has spent most of his time in Philadelphia as a backup. That might explain why word leaked recently of the Broncos showing interest in another mobile, young quarterback.
While there is no definitive backing on this, not entirely anyway it indicates an interesting avenue. Taylor made the Pro Bowl in 2015 after spending his entire career before that as a backup in Baltimore. Yet the Buffalo Bills do not seem satisfied with what the 26-year old accomplished. This is reinforced by the heavy interest they’ve shown in many of top quarterbacks in the upcoming 2016 NFL draft.
"“In 2015, Taylor threw for 3,035 yards passing while completing 63.7 percent of his passes to go along with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. Taylor has also contributed 568 yards rushing and four rushing touchdowns over the course of 14 games.”"
One could hardly begrudge the Denver Broncos and John Elway for sending out feelers. That kind of production would be most welcome on their offense after watching Peyton Manning struggle to the finish of his otherwise brilliant career. There is no reason to think Taylor couldn’t yield similar results with targets like Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders to throw to. It comes down to whether Buffalo is even interested in making a deal. At present that is unlikely, at least not until they’ve acquired a possible replacement.
