Oakland Raiders: Top 20 Draft Picks In Franchise History
By Erik Lambert
#17: Terry McDaniel (9th overall, 1988)
Another great player who is lost to history because he didn’t have the good fortune of being born a decade earlier. Like McGlockton, cornerback Terry McDaniel became a great player for the Raiders during the 1990s. Though he does not hold standing as a Hall of Famer like others, he was a five-time Pro Bowler who snagged 34 interceptions for the team, returning five for touchdowns, upholding that part of the tradition if not being able to bring home a championship.
Considering he eventually did all that despite breaking his leg as a rookie makes it an even more impressive accomplishment. What holds him back on this list is the same thing for most of the great players to come from that decade: inability to perform in the playoffs. McDaniel played in five postseason game during his career. In that time he failed to snag a single interception or make any other type of impactful play. Still, that should not diminish his place on the list too much.
