Oakland Raiders: Top 20 Draft Picks In Franchise History
By Erik Lambert
#18: Chester McGlockton (16th overall, 1992)
These days he’s a largely nondescript coach at Stanford and years ago Chester McGlockton was a nondescript player who just happened to be among the best at his position. The one shame of it all is the defensive tackle was never able to finish his career with the franchise as he left after the 1997, which he achieved his fourth Pro Bowl, and left for other opportunities including Kansas City, Denver and finally the Jets. A mutually destructive parting.
For the 90 games he did don the silver and black though, McGlockton was quite the interior terror. He compiled 39.5 sacks, forced 10 fumbles and 340 tackles. What lends a hand to him being so forgotten by most is the fact he did his greatest damage during the 1990s, a notorious down period for the Raiders in terms of their success. Had he come around in the early ’80s for the 2000s, he would get the credit he deserves.
