Oakland Raiders: Top 20 Draft Picks In Franchise History
By Erik Lambert
#1: Tim Brown (6th overall, 1988)
It’s a testament to how great Tim Brown was that he managed to top this extensive list without winning a championship. Indeed his only opportunity still bring bitter memories both for him and the legions of Silver and Black faithful when Jon Gruden returned to haunt them in Super Bowl XXXVII with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, that one game cannot erase a magnificent career that Brown managed to put together.
One where he set the franchise records for receiving yards (14,734), touchdowns (99) and catches (1,070) and reached nine Pro Bowls. All of this culminating into his induction into the Hall of Fame. To think it too six tries to make it is a travesty considering most of the quarterbacks Brown had to play with from Jay Schroeder to Jeff Hostetler to Jeff George. Perhaps as time goes on he’ll be better appreciated for the marvel of consistent excellence he was.
