Few, if any franchises in NFL history have a more storied legacy than the Oakland Raiders. Viewed for decades as the criminal element of pro football, they nonetheless carved out their own niche in the history books and couldn’t have done so without great players whom they were able to uncover in the draft. There are so many great names who’ve had their name called to don that silver helmet over the years, but who were the best of the best?

This countdown will rank the top 20 players ever selected by the Raiders franchise. It doesn’t matter what position they played or what era they came from. What it comes down to is whether they fulfilled the classic Raider mantras. Did they have a commitment to excellence? Did they just win? All the names that will follow best exemplified what it meant to play wearing that black jersey on Sundays and doing whatever it took to triumph on Sundays, legal or otherwise.
