2016 NFL Draft: Taking a look at a three-round mock draft for the Jacksonville Jaguars that can elevate this team into AFC South prominence…

What will the Jacksonville Jaguars do on draft weekend? They are one of the most interesting teams in the league right now to me, and I think they have a chance to make the biggest leap of any team in the AFC. What do they need to get them going? What players will help put the final  touches on a rebuild so we start seeing the new era of football in Jacksonville take off?

1. First round, 5th overall: Myles Jack, LB, UCLA

Yes, there are injury question marks around Myles Jack, but weren’t there the same ones for Todd Gurley last year?

That went well.

The Jaguars don’t have to lean on the precedence of Gurley to know whether or not this would be a good pick. Jack was injured early enough last season that he will likely be back for the start of the 2016 season. The only thing I could see scaring them off of this pick would be the fact that Dante Fowler Jr. is fresh off of a torn ACL himself. Do they want their top two assets in terms of prospects over the last two years to both be dealing with that?

Is that too much risk?

That’s the only reason I would say they would shy away from picking Jack, because some people feel like he’s the best player in this entire draft. Couple him with basically adding Fowler to the mix now with your new big money man in Malik Jackson, and that front is starting to sound quite formidable.

Jack is a speedy linebacker who even doubled as a running back at UCLA, and this guy has potential to be an absolute beast in Gus Bradley’s defense.
