There are big-time prospects that everyone knows about, there are small-school prospects who may have shined at lower division levels, and then there are those big-school prospects who seem to slip through the cracks of our media and are not generally covered. Silverberry Mouhon seems to fit under the latter group, while he played for a fairly successful program at Cincinnati, he is not a well-known prospect entering the draft. Does Mouhon have what it takes to succeed at the next level?

Measurables

Height: 6’4″

Weight: 250 lbs

Class: Senior

Strengths

Silverberry Mouhon is a versatile player, who can line up at defensive end or outside linebacker. Has nice size for either position and holds up well at the point of attack. Is a solid tackler, who seems to be efficient against the run game. Has provided nice production for the Bearcats, amassing 40 tackles (seven for loss) and 3.5 sacks (he has 18.0 over his career at Cincinnati). Plays with a nice motor and seems to give hustle every play. Has decent potential to become a solid special-teams contributor right away.

Weaknesses

While he possesses the size to play either position, Mouhon is more of a tweener lacking the size to consistently play defensive end in the NFL, while lacking the true coverage ability to play consistently at outside linebacker. Until he can add muscle to his frame, he is almost limited to 3-4 OLB. Will need to get stronger to match up against NFL-caliber O-lineman as there were times in college that he was stuffed at the line of scrimmage and held out of the play. Is an experienced player, but will need to expand his range of pass rushing ability if he is going to succeed at the NFL level.

Final Thoughts

Silverberry Mouhon is not a household name, even with a lack of depth at pass rusher in this class, and will be viewed by most as a tweener without a true position in the NFL. However, his size and experience provide the foundation needed to develop at the next level. He will have to make a living on special teams early on, however with more coaching and added weight, could become a consistent contributor for any 3-4 defense.
