7th Round

230. player. 57. An interesting note offered up recently about how the Bears offense might change under new coordinator Dowell Loggains was based in the running game. During his brief stint at the job in 2013, he often utilized a fullback to lead block. That could mean the team will be on the lookout for possible options in the draft considering they don’t have any on the roster at present.

If they manage to land Derek Watt this late, which is possible given the stigma regarding his position, it will go down as a big win. The Wisconsin fullback comes from a system steeped in lead blocking as he did for record-breaker Melvin Gordon among others. His value though goes beyond that. Watt can also pass protect, is reliable as a receiver out of the backfield as is a committed contributor on special teams. That’s more than anybody can ask for from a 7th round pick.
.
