1st Round

DE. Clemson. Shaq Lawson . 11. player. 57. A good 3-4 defensive end, in the tradition sense, is a player with good size at 6’3″ or above who has the power base to set the edge against the run and force running backs to stay between the tackles.  A great one can do that and also be an effective pass rusher.  Shaq Lawson showed at Clemson he possesses that unique combination of talents, making him a perfect Justin Smith-type for Fangio’s defense.

2nd Round

57. The great news about this 2016 draft is that left tackles could still be found even going into Day 2.  Jason Spriggs is garnering lots of attention out of Indiana.  He has that quick kick-slide, agile footwork and ability to handle speed off the edge.  His ability to anchor against power is lacking though.  That is why he goes in the 2nd round, but once he bulks up he’ll be a starter for at least 10 years.. OT. Indiana. Jason Spriggs . 41. player

3rd Round

Size, athleticism, speed and the ability to mirror receivers in press coverage isn’t the problem for Maurice Canady.  He can do all of that.  The primary issue for scouts is they fear the corner shies away from playing physical, both against bigger receivers and in the run game.  If the Bears feel they can work him through that, they’d be getting a solid cover man.. CB. Virginia. Maurice Canady . 72. player. 57
