The new league year started off with a bang as many teams saw an assortment of players signed with the hope of improvement. The Browns, haven’t made the splash that many fans were hoping to see and they let go of a few beloved players within hours of the opening. To question an organization that’s been in turmoil for the better part of 17 years is easy, however there’s something different about the new regime that may hold promise moving forward.

Losing Alex Mack, Mitchell Schwartz, Tashaun Gipson and Travis Benjamin won’t go unnoticed but maybe those sitting behind the desks know something that we don’t. A front office based off analytics is attempting to become the football version of Moneyball” and put together a team that performs well under one umbrella. Maybe the players let go weren’t the right fit for what the team envisioned in the future, nonetheless they’ll have to be replaced and somebody will have to compensate for their on field production.

Colin Kaepernick is a name that has recently been floating around the Browns buzz wire. While it initially seemed that he was a lock to be the new Browns quarterback, stalls in negotiations and the increase in time are leading to thoughts that the quarterback may end up elsewhere. Regardless, the Browns will be in play for a quarterback whether it’s through free agency or through the draft. It’s the most important position on the field and with over 20 plus quarterbacks failing in a Browns uniform, the organization is due for somebody worthwhile.
