Rolando McClain to Re-Sign with the Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys went from Super Bowl contender to a top draft pick team in a matter of weeks last season. Injuries across the board left them struggling to find starters and ultimately ending up with the fourth overall pick in this springs draft.
With so many issues concerning depth for Dallas, they have reportedly resigned one of their own. According to Rand Getlin of NFL Network, the Dallas Cowboys will resign linebacker Rolando McClain.
The deal was also confirmed by McClain’s agent.
Ian Rapoport says the deal is for one year and worth $5 million.
NFL Mocks writer Sam Weaver takes a look at Rolando McClain heading into free agency
"Rolando McClain had a solid year in Dallas after returning from his four game suspension. He played well opposite Sean Lee and racked up enough tackles to become an important free agent for the Cowboys to consider re-signing this offseason. At 6’4 and 255lbs, McClain has the potential to be a significant threat in the league. McClain is still young, only 27 years old, and if he can stay out of trouble, he could be a vital player at a reasonable price for the right team."
If McClain can stay healthy and stick on the right path off the field, it could be an underrated signing by Jerry Jones. He is expected to start as the teams middle linebacker alongside veteran Sean Lee. They may have to look at options at SAM in the draft or free agency.
With the fourth overall pick, expect Dallas to focus on defense. They expect to look at Jalen Ramsey, Joey Bosa and DeForest Buckner with that fourth overall pick. A quarterback could be in play, but Jerry Jones has said they prefer not to take that route.
