Vice President of Football Operations Howie Roseman was pushed out by Chip Kelly, but forced his way back to the top this offseason. Today, he is proving why he belongs at the top.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed offensive guard Brandon Brooks to a five year deal worth $40 million.

Brandon Brooks has only allowed six and a half sacks in his four years in the NFL. He has started 44 games and played in 50.

Here’s what NFL Mocks writer Jeff Olsen had to say about Brandon Brooks heading into free agency this week.

"Brooks is a naturally large and powerful man who moves better than you might expect.  He was part of a Houston offensive line that ranked 16th in sacks allowed and 15th in average rushing yards per game.  The 26 year old guard holds up well at the point of attack and shows the strength you need to play in a power system.  He isn’t the top interior offensive lineman on the market, but he is in that next tier and should be a solid player for whatever team signs him."

The Eagles have big holes across the offensive line. They played backups at guard for almost the entire season last year under Chip Kelly and have an aging Jason Peters on the end at left tackle. Brandon Brooks is a huge signing for them and fills a big need that hurt their pass and run game.

The Eagles also made a free agent splash today by signing safety Rodney McLeod to a long term contract. They also brought on Leodis McKelvin at cornerback after trading Byron Maxwell to the Dolphins along with Kiko Alonso to move up in the first round.
