Alex Mack To Sign With Atlanta Falcons
By Erik Lambert
Alex Mack was a somewhat surprising late addition to the NFL free agent market. Teams were bound to have interest in adding him to their offensive lines. Didn’t take long for one to pounce.
This is the player they’re bringing in from a good, bad and ugly perspective (mostly good).
"“After opting out of his contract in Cleveland, Alex Mack has quickly become one of the more talented free agents in this years class. One of the best centers in the NFL, Mack would be a perfect fit for any team looking to make an upgrade up front. The 30-year old has been selected to three Pro Bowls since being drafted in the first round back in 2009. Look for him to lean towards signing with a contender after spending so many years in Cleveland.”"
This is a tremendous get for the Falcons. Mack isn’t too old and he’s coming off his third Pro Bowl season. He’s an instant upgrade along that interior offensive line and should serve to take much better care of Matt Ryan, while also adding more punch to their ground game.
GRADE: A+
If there was one player out there who could help Atlanta immediately on the offensive line that wouldn’t cost a fortune, it’s Mack. He should be able to play at a high level for them for another four to five seasons, giving Ryan a new lease on life after the difficult time he’s had dealing with pressure in his face.
