The Bengals failed to retain a lot of their own players today in free agency, but were able to save one late Wednesday night.

According to Fox Sports Mike Garafolo, the Cincinnati Bengals have retained cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones with a three year contract.

Now that he has settled his off the field issues, Pacman Jones has become a real asset for the Cincinnati Bengals. He was productive this year and helped lead them to the playoffs. He also earned his first Pro Bowl selection.

Here’s what NFL Mocks writer Kyle McKinnon had to say about Pacman Jones heading into free agency this week.

"Many only remember Adam “Pacman” Jones’ complete meltdown at the end of the Bengals’ playoff loss to the Steelers back in January. While his troubling antics might have cost Cincinnati their first postseason victory since 1991, Jones still enjoyed one of his best seasons to date. A dangerous punt-returner and an integral piece to the Bengals defense, the nine-year veteran corner was used in the slot and on the outside, routinely disrupting opposing passing attacks. Jones has also proven that he’s no liability in run defense, never shying away from ballcarriers. Likely interested in a contender, look for Pacman to join a championship caliber team."

Pacman Jones had 62 tackles, three interceptions, and one forced fumble for the Bengals this year. It was his sixth season with the Bengals since playing for the Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans.

He was originally drafted by the Titans with the sixth overall pick out of West Virginia in 2005.

The Bengals lost receivers Mohammed Sanu and Marvin Jones, but were able to also retain safety George Iloka prior to the new league year starting Wednesday afternoon.
