Fixing or reloading all the other offensive positions will be hard enough for the Texans.  The last thing they can afford is to start losing quality offensive lineman on top of it.  Brandon Brooks isn’t a star but he’s a steady guard who is better than a number of other starters in the league.  Re-signing him will be good for continuity on offense as they prepare to change quarterbacks.. Part of the reason Khalil Mack dominated in 2015 was because the Raiders took a gamble on signing Aldon Smith to play on the other side.  He stayed out of trouble, but couldn’t avoid a year-long suspension that was already coming.  He won’t be due back until November, but Oakland is thinking long-term when they decide to secure him to a new deal..
