124. Even at age 33, Derrick Johnson was a force for the Kansas City Chiefs defense. While the secondary and defensive line got loads of the credit, he was their guy who did the dirty work and did it better than most inside linebackers in the league. Having posted 116 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles, he reached the fourth Pro Bowl of his career.

<p>That is reason alone for the Chiefs to want him back, regardless of his age. He’s still very productive. Beyond that though is the simple reality that the roster doesn’t have many proven options at inside linebacker if he leaves. Part of it is because he’s been so dependable, the need to draft one high was never prevalent. Still, it’s a position that is in danger of a serious pitfall, especially if he leaves.
