Philadelphia Eagles

Mario Williams . 21. player. 54. This move makes sense on a variety of levels. First and foremost, it is the Philadelphia Eagles helping along the transition of their defense from a 3-4 to a 4-3 under new coordinator Jim Schwartz. Schemes often require different types of pass rushers and Williams is a much better fit for the latter, so adding him is a big positive.

Beyond that is the coaching connection. In 2014, Williams had the best season of his career with 14.5 sacks. His coordinator in Buffalo at the time was Jim Schwartz, the same man hired to take over the defense in Philadelphia. Ushering in a reunion between the two makes way too much sense for all parties involved. It gives Williams a chance to recapture that dominant form before it’s too late while Schwartz has at least one edge rusher he knows can handle having his hand in the dirt.
.
