Sam Bradford was the number one overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams out of Oklahoma. His entire playing career has been muddled by injuries, including multiple ACL tears.
In his four years in St. Louis, Bradford thew for over 11,000 yards, 59 touchdowns, 38 interceptions while starting only 49 games. He missed the entire 2014 season with one of his ACL injuries.
Last offseason the Eagles traded quarterback Nick Foles and a second round pick to St. Louis in exchange for Sam Bradford and a fourth round pick.
In 14 games with the Eagles, Bradford threw for a career high 3,725 yards along with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He missed two games with a shoulder injury half way through the season.
Bradford’s extensive injury history has scared most teams from taking a chance on him, which is perhaps why the Eagles got him on a short-term deal. With two career ACL injuries, as well as shoulder and ankle issues, Bradford’s reliability as a starter in the NFL is not high.
The Eagles were expected to move on from Bradford and sign a holdover guy until next years draft class. Next years class has a higher number of quality quarterbacks and the number of them is much higher.
