NFL Combine Scouting Notes: Running Backs
Overall, I had mixed reviews with this running back class. I saw a nice amount of backs that will play complimentary roles very well, but not many guys that will come in as lead backs with a full skill set. I don’t there are any backs worthy of being drafted in the top 25. If it is a big team need, okay, its understandable a little before that, but I don’t see anyone going in the top 15 at all.

Each back has their ups and downs, there are no backs with a full and complete skill set who will do everything properly right away. I know talking about ball skills seems picky, but as a running back these guys are supposed to be the safety net for the offense. When you need positive yards and a way to protect the ball, you give it to the running back. I don’t just say that here, I say that every day on the field. My backs know that their first job is protecting the ball, so I put a lot of emphasis on that when judging guys at the higher levels.
One thing is certain, this should be one of the most exciting and surprising drafts in recent years.
