A talented receiver in his own right, Demarcus Robinson will need to prove to scouts that his off-the-field troubles are a thing of the past.

During his time at Florida, Demarcus Robinson emerged as the team’s consistent go-to receiver and biggest offensive threat. His low statistical totals during his sophomore and junior seasons may not have shown it (1,332 receiving yards, 101 receptions, nine scores), however Robinson became one of the better receivers in the entire country.

The main concern with the Florida product hasn’t been with his talent, though, but rather from an off-the-field standpoint . He was suspended four times in college, receiving his final one during his junior year. That was also Robinson’s last year as a Gator.

Are his disturbing antics away from the gridiron enough to drop him completely off of draft boards? Let’s analyze the troubled receiver’s current stock.

Strengths

The biggest thing that stands out in Robinson’s game is his ability when the ball is in his hands. He’s a natural playmaker that can make something out of nothing. The former Gator is agile, a strong runner, and has stop-start quickness that allows him to change field direction with ease.

Robinson’s athleticism jumps out on tape, but his skill set as a receiver is one that’ll garner plenty of looks. He’s a dangerous deep-threat that can get downfield in a hurry, mostly due to his ability to quickly accelerate off the line. Overall, he’s a smooth runner that has elite athletic capabilities, which many receivers in the draft simply don’t possess.

Weaknesses

Simply put, Robinson relies too much on those natural athletic gifts and doesn’t really do any of the small, integral things well. He’s mediocre, at best, in his downfield blocking, the route-running isn’t too sharp, and Robinson lacks needed-physicality in his game; avoiding contact if at all possible.

Obviously, the most glaring concerns lie in his capability to be a decent teammate and professional athlete. The multiple suspensions will unquestionably scare many teams off. It’ll be difficult for Robinson to change his current status as a player who doesn’t work at or care much about his career.

Verdict

There’s no denying that Robinson possesses some special athletic abilities.

More from NFL Mocks

He’s not a very polished receiver, but with some time, Robinson has the potential to become solid starter material in the league.

Although, that might take a while, it may not happen at all, for that matter, and the skilled wideout has nobody to blame but himself.

His on-the-field performance reflects the type of person and teammate he is off of it. Robinson’s overly dependent on his raw talent, pays no attention to detail when it comes to the finer aspects of the game, and is not willing to lay himself on the line for his team.

Becoming an undrafted-free agent will probably not end up being the case, but don’t expect Robinson’s name to be called any time before the fifth-round, at the very least.
