NFL Scouting Combine: North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz looked really good in shorts, and had a great workout at the 2016 Combine…

Carson Wentz is the most talented quarterback in this year’s draft, and he just solidified that at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine.

Wentz looked comfortable in every drill, from the 40-yard dash to the on-field work, and he not only looked like he was comfortable but he absolutely crushed it.

Coming from North Dakota State, many have wondered about Carson Wentz’s pro-readiness, and rightfully so. It’s not an easy transition going from the schedule the Bison face annually to a 16-game NFL grind, but Wentz appears poised to be someone’s franchise quarterback and he showed out on arguably his biggest stage so far.

Where other quarterbacks struggled and were making things look somewhat difficult, Wentz made it look easy. Particularly, Wentz showed excellent footwork for his big frame and put the football on a rope in throws to the sideline with perfect timing, as well as showing touch on downfield passes to put the ball in the receiver’s bread basket.

He ran a respectable 4.78 in the 40-yard dash, and is showing NFL teams that he’s not just a productive college player from a non-FBS school…He’s a legit NFL prospect who can be a franchise quarterback, and if you’re asking me, he looks like the top pick in the draft.

Whether it was his college games, the Senior Bowl, or the Combine, it just feels like the stage has never been too big for Wentz. That’s the type of guy you want leading your franchise, so when a team like the Cleveland Browns is on the clock, you had better believe this guy is going to be an option.

Some might wonder about Jared Goff, and it’s fair to think he’s the top QB in this draft as well, but I think the upside is much higher with Wentz. Goff didn’t have a bad workout at all, and in fact looked really good, but there was a different feel to Wentz’s workout in my opinion that set him apart today.

If you can ‘win’ the Combine, Wentz did it for the QB position, drawing some excellent on-field responses with plenty of oohs and ahs from the coaches and players with his throws.

We knew Wentz was going to be a top 10 pick prior to this workout, but a Pro Day will only enhance what we now know — he is the best QB in this draft.
