While the Mocks crew is a professional bunch who takes their jobs seriously, they’re also football fans at heart just like anybody else and they have their favorite teams too.  So the question was posed on which pending free agent would they view as the absolute ideal signing scenario?  This NFL roundtable delivers their answers.

Shawn Spencer:

Would love to see the Patriots sign Seattle wide receiver Jermaine Kearse. Not only would he give Tom Brady a deep threat, but it would take away a top weapon from their potential Super Bowl 51 opponent. His ability to stretch the defense would open up the short and intermediate areas of the field for guys like Gronkowski and Edelman. With those two having extra space, Brady could have a career year on his way to a fifth Lombardi Trophy.

David Holmes:

Would love to see the Chicago Bears pry away Malik Jackson from the Broncos. The Bears 3-4 defense is sorely lacking pieces it needs to compete week in and week out. Pairing Jackson with Goldman would create a nasty one-two punch along the defensive line.

Rodney Stokes:

My Browns could open up the draft if they signed Robert Griffin III. I know a lot of people are down on him but with Hue at head coach I think there’s a fit for RG3 to come in and be successful. It would also allow us to address plenty of other needs.

Eric Robinson:

Seeing Alshon Jeffrey teaming with Julio Jones down in Atlanta scares me a little let alone the other 31 NFL teams. It would make sense for him to sign there since he is a native of my home state, South Carolina, while also having played under Steve Spurrier. However, I’m not even entertaining the notion of this type of move. Jeffrey is seeking a payday and there’s little chance he’ll find it in Atlanta barring some unforeseen cap moves.

Matthew Holowiak:

Depending on the cost, I would love for the Giants to sign Alshon Jeffrey. To have a physically huge receiver opposite beckham would be arguably the best passing attack in the league. They have money to spend I just hope it isn’t TOO crazy of a deal.

Erik Lambert:

Since I’m of the belief the Bears will focus their efforts on defense in the draft, I feel they’re in great position to round out their offense with one more big piece.  I can only imagine how fearsome that offensive line would look if they were able to sign Kelechi Osemele.  The guy is a monstrous force as a run blocker, blowing defenders off the ball almost at will.  He could replace Charles Leno Jr. at left tackle or slide him back to guard where he can team with Kyle Long.  Safe to say Jeremy Langford would be in for quite the sophomore season.
