Darian Thompson. 50. player. 44.
Dan Quinn knows he has some work to do to improve his defensive secondary, which was too inconsistent at times this past season for his liking. What he could really use is a safety on the back end who can make some plays happen in coverage. Darian Thompson did nothing but that at Boise State with 19 interceptions. He’s also got size and shows a willingness to play aggressive near the box. The problem is he plays too out of control, looking for the big moment rather than executing his assignment. Quinn will have to fix that.
. 30.
A team that appears so close to competing for a title knows it may have to take some risks if it wants to make it the final leg. After gambling on Spence in the first round, the Jets double down in the second round by grabbing quarterback Connor Cook. From a talent and productivity point of view, the Michigan State star is a possible steal here. He’s got size, a strong arm, decent mobility and a rich reputation for late-game heroics. However, he also is surrounded by rumors that teammates view him as a prima donna with no leadership qualities. Is it true or just overblown?
. QB. Michigan State. Connor Cook. 51. player
