27. player. 49. Ted Thompson has said he doesn’t view inside linebacker as a primary building block on defense. Outside linebacker on the other hand is vital to the Green Bay Packers’ 3-4 scheme. There is no guarantee Julius Peppers will be back next year and the team really has no other true starters at that position what with Clay Matthews busy playing inside.
What makes Emmanuel Ogbah such a potentially good pick is that he’s a hybrid type. He has the athleticism for linebacker but the mass and power of a defensive end. This means he’ll be able to anchor against the run while at the same time attacking as a pass rusher from multiple angles, just like Dom Capers loves to do. The key will be motivation. When his motor is hot, Ogbah is hard to stop.
. EDGE. Oklahoma State. Emmanuel Ogbah
