TE. Arkansas. Hunter Henry. 22. player. 44. Another wide receiver is also an option here but it’s fair to say that Matt Ryan was at his best with the Atlanta Falcons when he had a legitimate receiving threat at the tight end position to counterbalance Julio Jones. That was Tony Gonzalez. After he retired, the team hasn’t found a credible option since at that spot. Time that changed.
With O.J. Howard returning to Alabama, Hunter Henry stands alone as by far the best tight end in the 2016 class. Given his size and strength most would expect him to be a capable blocker for Arkansas but it’s his athleticism and soft hands that set him apart from others. He can often make acrobatic catches look easy and has that extra gear to make it almost impossible for most linebackers to cover him. If Atlanta grabs him and can find a #2 receiver in the later rounds, they’re in business.
