The New York Jets defense is great right now but a lot of their success has come thanks to older, veteran players. They can’t afford to slacken on their willingness to load the unit it up with top talent. Besides, it’s not like it doesn’t lack for certain parts. Perhaps the most noticeable is a lacking presence at outside linebacker.
Outside pass rush would be the perfect compliment to that dominant defensive front they’ve built. Leonard Floyd of Georgia looks the part. A tremendous athlete, he boasts quickness, agility and significant length that allows him to keep blockers at bay. The issue is his muscle mass is underdeveloped and his production doesn’t reflect the talent. So there is a slight risk to picking him. The payoff though would be enormous
.
