Memphis. Jack Conklin. 20. player. 30. All the success the New York Jets enjoyed on offense in 2015 began and ended with their offensive line. A largely veteran group led by two Pro Bowlers, it dictated the tempo for most of their big wins and the strong seasons had by Ryan Fitzpatrick and Chris Ivory. That said, age is becoming a factor with them.
The Jets can’t afford to wait too long on adding a young body to that important unit. So they do just that. Jack Conklin doesn’t go earlier in the draft because he’s not quite the athlete some of the others are, but he’s proven himself an experienced, dependable blocker who is smart, works hard and takes full advantage of his size and strength. He’ll fit right in with what New York likes to do.
.
