DE. Oregon. DeForest Buckner. 12. player. 15. History shows that Mickey Loomis of the New Orleans Saints tends to favor strengthening the trenches early in drafts. It’s how he built the Super Bowl team in 2009 and likely will be the same formula he use to retool the team moving forward. That is why drafting DeForest Buckner makes so much sense.
It may not be the most immediate need but it adds strength to an area that can feed into the rest of the defense. Buckner is a stout run defense with top level length and power but what so many miss is the quickness and burst which could make him a formidable pass rusher. Team him with Cameron Jordan and Hau’oli Kikaha and that’s a party New Orleans would love to see.
