The Draft:  Myles Jack

Among the most problematic positions that constantly came up in discussions about the defense, inside linebacker was referenced the most.  Too many times in 2015 did players like Shea McClellin, Christian Jones, and Jonathan Anderson prove unequal to the task at that spot.  The run defense was poor and opposing tight ends often had a field day against them.

Somebody who can help with both problems would be preferable.  UCLA linebacker Myles Jack would fit the bill.  While a tad undersized at 6’1″, he makes up for it with aggressiveness, speed and elite athleticism.  Jack also spent time as a running back, so he has good vision and instinct for where the ball is going.

Tight ends and running backs can’t shake him in coverage.  He moves so well backwards some might mistake him for a safety.  Put him behind a big defensive front and keep blockers off him?  This kid will be a playmaker.
