Twenty years after his father tore up the college fields, Thaddeus Moss will be soon be doing the same. The son of former NFL wide receiver Randy Moss officially committed to the NC State Wolfpack after receiving multiple offers from some of college footballs most prestigious programs.

With National Signing Day less than two weeks away, the announcement from Moss was certainly imminent.

The young Moss has received both three and four star rankings from multiple recruiting sources, including a three star rating from 247 Sports. Unlike his father, Thaddeus Moss lines up as a tight end.

Despite lining up in a different role, you can see similar attributes between Thaddeus and Randy. Thaddeus shows strong hands, an excellent vertical jump, and decent awareness for a high school athlete.

The high school star received offers from nearly 30 schools, but NC State was not rumored to be a favorite early on. Many recruiting analysts projected Moss to commit to Texas A&M, his father’s alma mater Marshall, or his home-state team West Virginia. Moss also received offers from Alabama, Miami, USC, UCLA, and Georgia among others.

Moss logged official visits to Texas A&M, UCLA, and most recently USC.

“It just felt right,” Moss said. “It’s close to home, it felt right, and they kept it real with me from day one. NC State was the first team to offer, and loyalty was rewarded.”

The Wolfpack currently carry seven tight ends on their spring roster. Redshirt junior and 2015 starter David Grinnage will forgo his final year of eligibility and Benson Browne finished up his senior season. Another noted loss on the NC State offense will be quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who declared for the draft and is a projected mid-round prospect.

Moss is not the only son of an NFL super star making major decisions on where he’ll play next season. Barry Sanders Jr. announced his transfer from Stanford, and has reportedly been considering playing at his father’s alma mater Oklahoma State.

Moss’s commitment to NC State takes another key name off of the National Signing Day watch board. Number one ranked prospect Rashan Gary, a defensive tackle, has not yet made a decision on where he will play this fall. While the latest projections point to Michigan, Gary has 29 different offers to shift through.
