NFL Mocks Roundtable: Best NFL Snow Games
As the east coast is bombarded with several feet of snow, the NFL Mocks crew looked back at some of the more memorable snow related moments in NFL history. Which “snowments” made our list?
Erik: While not being a Patriots fan myself, it’s hard to deny that the best snow-related moment in NFL history I ever witnessed was in the 2001 playoff game against Oakland. The famous “Tuck Rule.” Most people remember it for when Brady fumbled/didn’t fumble, I remember it more for kicker Adam Vinatieri. Despite terrible conditions from a slick, snow-covered field to significant winds, he was able to boot two enormously clutch fields goals to both force overtime and then win it in overtime. He may be remembered for his Super Bowl boots, but those two kicks were the greatest ever.

Sayre:
I have to agree with Erik, but one of the moments that sticks out to me is a game in which the Philadelphia Eagles played against the Detroit Lions that is known now as “The Snow Bowl”.
Eric: November 1993. Dolphins at Cowboys. Just a weird game with snow on the field in Cowboys Stadium. Most notably known for Leon Lett having that “What are you doing?!” moment. Dallas blocks a potential game-winning FG but instead of staying away from it, Lett for some odd reason attempts to recover the blocked football which makes it a live ball. Of course he didn’t recover it, of course no one from Dallas recovered, and of course Miami recovers and wins the game on the very next play with a renewed shot at a game-winning FG.
George: As an Eagles fan, I have to agree with Sayre and say the Snow Bowl. I remember watching the pregame and thinking it was crazy that they were even playing that game. Neither team could kick a field goal/extra point, so the added excitement of two point conversions made the game even more interesting. More importantly, LeSean McCoy had a career game. He broke the franchise single-game rushing record with 217 yards, adding in two touchdowns in eight inches of snow. The Leon Lett moment was also a great one.
