6th Round

Small school prospects most often are saved for the later rounds for the simple fact that they haven’t proven themselves against top competition. That is why so many gems come out of the later rounds. Teams just aren’t willing to take chances on such players early. The Bears are no different, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be excited about this pick.
Victor Ochi has steadily drawn attention to his school at Stony Brook. While somewhat undersized at 6’2″ for a 3-4 outside linebacker, his explosive first step, athletic bend and high motor make him a pass rusher offensive linemen cannot afford to lose track of before the snap. His 13 sacks and 16.5 tackles for a loss are proof he knows how to make plays in the backfield.
.
